You've earned a 24 carrot salute !
Carambola is also know as star fruit. It's shape consists of 5 prominent ribs which run the entire length; when sliced crosswise, the slices are shaped like a star. The thin waxy skin of carambola is a translucent pale yellow green color, turning golden yellow when ripe. The edible skin encloses a translucent flesh that is crisp and juicy. The flavor is a combination of apple, grape and citrus. The carambola is a great source of vitamin C, nearly 35% of the daily required amount in one small whole fruit.
Here's a great salad using carambola.
